Hi Mary,

I have a few clues for the puzzle:

My GGG grandmother was Mary McGarr, born in County Tyrone around 1830. She married Michael McPike in St. Columbans Church in NYC on Nov. 14, 1852. He was also from Dromore, Tyrone and had emigrated to NY with his parents in the previous decade.

Mary McGarr and her husband shortly afterwards moved to Hull, Quebec, where they are buried. Their daughter Anne McPike married into a French Canadian family, and our family still lives in that area.

This is handwritten some time ago in a family bible of ours:

(Written by hand:) ''In the bible there is a record of the marriage of Henry McPike to Bridget McGarr, May 3rd, 1857. Our grandfather Michael McPike and his brother Henry married sisters. Felix McPike drowned around 1868. Catherine McGarr, May 21st, 1852, died. [Elsewhere it says that Catherine had married a French Canadian doctor]/

There seem to be three McGarr sisters, Mary, Bridget and Catherine, all born in Dromore, Tyrone, and later moving to Canada, via New York City.

I'm especially interested in learning more about my GGG Grandmother, Mary McGarr (married to Michael McPike). Hers is a blank limb on my family tree! I do have a good history of the McPikes of Tyrone, if anyone is interested.

Any clues to Mary McGarr would be appreciated. Thanks, Martin
