Hi, I'm thinking these Browns may be related to mine as well but I don't have solid evidence either. I think 'Margaret C. Brown' is the older sister that had married prior to 1850. Here is why I think so. What I do know:
Robert Ross Steele b. 19 Nov 1820 d. 9 jul 1899
m. 29 jan 1850
Margaret C. Brown b. 20 aug 1827 d. aft 1880
Since she was married in 1850, she is missing from the brown family census recording in 1850. But looking for other browns close by with dates that would match her birth day, I only came up with 1 brown family in Ramah, Mecklenburg.
That was the James M. & Elizabeth brown that you were referring to.
1850 Census Household Members:
Caleb Brown 15
Elizabeth Brown 45
George Brown 9
James M Brown 46
John Brown 12
Martha Brown 6
Rebecca Brown 20
Stanhope Brown 17
That marriage date would also fit as Margaret's birthday would have been after that. But at this point...everything is a good fit but I don't have any other supporting information. If anyone else can help, please let me know. Thanks!
