John McGauhey (McGahey) in PA in 1748
The will of my 7th g. grandfather William Field was witnessed by John McGahey (McGauhey, it is spelled 2 different ways in the document) in Lancaster County, Pa. in 1748. As I have yet been unable to determine William's wife Jane's maiden name, or the maiden name of Willim Jr.'s wife Lydia, I thought I would post a message here to see if any of you McGaheys had information on the above John McGahey, and if he had any female relatives who married into the Field (or Fields, as it was sometimes spelled) family.
William Field was born c. 1698, possibly in Calvert County, Maryland. He died in 1748 in Tyrone Township, Lancaster County, (now Adams Co.), Pennsylvania, and is buried at the Old White Episcopal Church there. Sometime between 1748 and 1755, his widow and children moved to Orange County, NC, a section that later became Guilford and Randolph Counties.
The other witness to the 1748 will was Jas. Murray and William Proctor was named as Executor.
