The Andrew Mcgaffey family we are seeking was the first family to move into the town of Navy, VT (before there even was a town). According to the history of Charleston, VT (Navy) He moved his family from Lyndon, VT in the summer of 1803. His wife died on Oct. 30, 1803. Her maiden name was not given but some research suggests Corliss or Wallace. Andrew Mcgaffey then moved his family back to Lyndonville and the early Navy town records indicate that he died not long after his wife. The Historical Society is interested in any information on this family. There is an Andrew Mcgaffey who was listed in the Rev. War and also a Neil Mcgaffey. Although there are Mcgaffeys listed in the Cem. of Lyndon no gravestone was found for him and any info of his burial place would be appreciated. His wife was buried on their lot #7 in Navy (a grave marker has never been found). Thank you on behalf of the Charleston Historical Society.
