I have discovered quite a lot since I posted that message.
My gr, gr, gr, gr, gr grandfather was:
Andrew McPherran, born 1755-59,in Scotland. He was a Revolutionary War veteran. He married Mary or Martha Adams
My gr, gr, gr,gr grandfather was:
John McPherran, born 1786 in York Co., PA,m. Elizabeth Stewart.
My gr, gr, gr grandmother was Jane McPherran. She married George Wareham Mattern.

I have information on the Matterns if you are interested in this branch of the family.
My gr,gr,gr,gr grandfather was John George Mattern Born 1735
in Valais, France. Married Cathern Schupp, born 1734.
