Hi Linda,
I have not made a lot of progress on the McFerrens (McFerrin, McPherin, McPherren, McPheren, McPherrin and even McFerran).I did find out that my 3x-great-grandparents, Morris Ocheltree and Francina McFerren were married Feb. 4, 1836 in Champaign County, Ohio.I've extracted every variation of the name McFerren from the census from 1830 - 1860 (listed below) including your William and Edith. I'm taking a guess that Francina's (and possibly William's) father may have been John McFerren or George McFerren.I'm thinking the next step is trying to find a probate record for any McFerren in Champaign Co.(and other spelling variations) that my list the children. The genweb site of Champaign county said there was a fire in the 1940's that destroyed some early probate records but the Family History Center does have the probates on microfilm.I just need to get the time to go and look it up.
