I am seeking anyone related to, or having information, regarding Mary (BURTLOW) EGGLESTON, a resident of Henry Co. IA when she married in Lowell, Henry Co. in 1851, or any BURTELOW/BURTLOW or McFARLING of Henry Co. IA. I believe she may be connected to R. G. McFARLING and his wife Sarah (possible nee McGREGOR), as she was living in the household of R. G. McFARLANND and his wife Sarah in Henry Co. IA in 1850 census record. How is she connected with this McFARLAND family and why was she living in their household? The following is specific information on Mary (BURTLOW or BURTELOW) EGGLESTON, the census record entries for R. G. McFARLAND household and the possible connections:

Note: (3) Possibility: Was Mary the oldest child of R. G. McFarling and Sarah? Was she a step-daughter of R. G. McFarling and daughter of Sarah by a first marriage to a Burtelow? Sarah would have been est. age 17 born c1816 when Mary was est. born. Time frame could make Mary an oldest child and married - hence the surname "Burtlow" [Burtelow]

Note: (3) What happened to baby Thomas Burtelow?
*** Possibility: If this is Mary, wife of Alpheus, she was a Burtelow by a first marriage at a very young age and not by birth. Did she leave Richard Burtelow between 1850 and 1851 and move into the R. G. McFarland household, then marry Alpheus Eggleston in 1851? Was this Richard Burtelow a close relative of Mary?
*** Possibility: WPA Project lists Mary (Beutelon) Eggleston as buried in Lewis Cem., Jackson Twp.. Note Richard and young wife Mary listed in Jackson Twp., Henry Co. in 1850 census. Is Thomas A. Burtelow buried at young age in Jackson Twp.? Since Alpheus’ wife Mary was not buried with Alpheus in Maple Hill Cem. in Osceola, Clarke Co. IA, but in Jackson Twp, could this explain why? Was she buried with her child?
