Alex McFarlane/McFarland was b. 5 March 1826 in Kincardine, Perthshire, Scotland. He married 4 times and I would love to know the names of his 1st 2 wives! His first known child was b. 1848 in Michigan, Hiram, and he had a brother, Francis b. 1850 Michigan. By presumably the 2nd wife, Alex had a son, David, b. 1857 Michigan. He m. Candace Whitesell ca 1864 presumably in Michigan. They one child, Flora, b. in Michigan and had two children, Carrie and Mary, born in Illinois (Whiteside Co.) before coming finally to Story County, Iowa where 3 more children, John, Edward and Anna, were born. Candace d. in 1877. Alex 4th wife was Alletta Hyde Mount whom he m. 10 Feb. 1892 in Ames, Story County, Iowa. They had no known children.
