Hi,

I am looking for ancestors of a Matthew MacFarlane. He was born in 1754 in Barrhead, Neilston Parish, Renfrewshire, Scotland. He sailed to Quebec on the "EARL OF BUCKINGHAMSHIRE" in 1821. He died in 1844. He married a Janet Anderson (b. 1756). He signed his name as McFarlane, but the name was later changed to MacFarlane.

Matthew and Janet had 8 children, all born in Scotland:
1. Margaret MacFarlane (m. William Anderson) - remained in Scotland

2. Matthew MacFarlane (b. 1782 m. Marion Anderson)

3. Helen MacFarlane (b. 1790 m. George Macfarlane) - came to Canada in 1841

4. Thomas MacFarlane (b. 1792 m. Margaret Coats)

5. James MacFarlane (b. 1796 Neilston, Renfrewshire, Scotland d. 06 Oct 1860 Almonte, Lanark, Ontario, Canada m. Margaret Affleck (b. 29 May 1810 d. 29 Oct 1887) Had 9 children

6. Robert MacFarlane (b. 1798 m. Catherine McMillan)

7. Janet MacFarlane (b. 1803 m. Robert Wilkie)

8. David MacFarlane (b. Abt. 1805) -Came to Canada but then returned to Scotland
