Have no idea if our McFarland family intersects with your branch as I've barely begun the research, but there are a lot of similarities in the family history I've already received from cousins and what you state.
I'm still trying to find the connection, but our branch supposedly goes back to County Tyrone in No. Ireland. A lot of the info isn't filled out, as yet, but here's some of what I have:
(Sir?) Robert - born abt 1675, married Jennett (or Janet), born 1688 in Ireland.
They had a son, John (b. 1707/08) in County Tyrone, Ireland. He married Mary Montgomery about 1728, probably in Lancaster, PA.
John (Sr.?) and Mary had a son, John (Jr.?). He was born in 1738/39 in Scotland. He married Mary Kinder, and they had a son, Benjamin, born in 1767 in Virginia.
Benjamin married Ruth Jack. They had 9 children. Their youngest was James(my gr-gr-gr-grandfather). He married Minerva Long and they had 9 children. In order of their age: Nancy married Nathan McClure. Samuel married Sarah Cooper. Benjamin (my gr-gr-grandfather) married Jane (Jinny) Vaughan. Edward died early. Mary married Dr. Abe Baugh. Solomon was a Civil War soldier and died in TN on his way home from the war. John married Catherine Beck. Rutha married John Wooldridge. And Bettie married Millard Guthrie.
I have more of later generations but I haven't added them to a chart yet. Hope this helps you.
