Thanks for responding .... Most of the info you put in the post I believe I have .... interested if yours came from the same places mine did (some my Mother's memory, some from , and other various sources.

The Alney mystery continues .. I had the name Barbara Holywood from my Mother several years ago but have never been able to find anything. As for his father, that's the path I'm trying for now ... some circumstantial material points to being a son of Arthur McFalls and Emzey Hollyfield(sp) .. that's in the ballpark Holly....) but nothing concrete ...... My mother also said she thought we had a full blooded Cherokee Indian in our line ... Arthur was also married to Teek .... again nothing concrete

Old Alney also seems to have had several alias .. Allen A., Jonah, Abner B. , there are records linking Jonah and Abner to Mathilda McKinney (Matila in one case). I can envision Allen or Abner and Alney being mixed up with bad handwriting or spelling but the Jonah one mystifies me (there's a marriage record for that one)

I'm from William Julius' line through Mary Coffman (he had 2 wives and families) .. My father was Cecil. He died when I was young in 1957. Sharon Miller-Reed is also on this trail .. she is from John McFalls (probably Andrew John or John Andrew .. she states AJ for Andrew John) who was Alney's youngest son. William Julius died in Granite City Illinois for your records. His first wife was Amanda Counts.
