I don't know whether this might help but my GGrandfather's name was Branson McEwen Spencer. He was born 1831 in Henderson Co., TN. His uncle was named Ira McEwen Jones and he was born in Lincoln Co., TN in 1817. There must have been a close association between the Jones and McEwen families in Lincoln & Henderson Counties of TN.
