I have been trying to find out what happened to the father of my Luddington wife. Would any of you know if a 51 -61 year old man would have joined the up during the civil war. I find him and his wife and 7 kids in the 1860 census in MI. From the censes looks like they are doing good. It says the 2 oldest kids were born in Canada the rest in Mi. They just vanish but later his wife is buried back in Canada and that is where their daughter my G Grandma marries my Luddington. I found a Collin McCuen Prvt Union. But a NY regiment. That is the way his last name was spelled on his MI Land grant. Also spelled McEwen and a few others. Is there anywhere else I should look for his enlistment papers see if they give an age? Also would someone from MI join a NY Regiment? I have not traced anyone in the military yet, so any help would be appreciated.Barbara
