Robert S. McEwen, b. Feb 14, 1809 was the son of Francis and Nancy Smyth. francis was born Dec 14, 1758 in Bucks Co., PA, (then Philadelphia Co.). He died Sep 2, 1855 and is buried in akland Cemetery, Perkins Twp., Erie Co., Ohio.Francis moved from Centre Co., PA to Wayne Co., OH and also lived in Springfield Twp., Richland Co., Ohio. He served in the Revolutionary War in 1778 - 1779 in the PA Line; applied for pension #R6730.

Francis had other children:

Thomas C. McEwen b.Nov 27, 1814; d. 1893 and buried in the same cemetery as his father.
Nancy Jane Smyth McEwen b.Dec 10, 1813, d. Mar 18, 1933 buried in the same cemetery as her father.

Francis was the son of Henry McEwen and Elizabeth Caldwell. Henry b.May 1, 1732 in Ballybay, Monaghan Co., Ireland.

Henry was the son of James McEwen and Isabella Stewart.
