Helen,
I wonder if Hugh's father was named Francis by chance? If so, his mother would be my gggrandfather John Morgan's sister, Mary Morgan. Both Francis and Mary were born about 1853 and lived in Ardtanagh townland, Dromara Parish, County Down. They had eleven children including: Peter b 1881, Susan b 1882, John b 1883, Cecilia b 1887, Mary Alice b 1889, James b 1890, Patrick 1892, Maggie b 1894, Hugh b 1895, and Elizabeth b 1897.I believe they also had a son, Francis, who died quite young - one would suppose born between John and Cecilia.
I know that daughter, Maggie McEvoy, continued to write letters to her cousin in America from her home in Castlewellan as late as 1940 and she mentions that all her siblings but one, John, have a family. I was just noticing the similarity of names in this family and your ancestors and was thinking there might be a connection.
Interestingly, my ggrandfather James, son of John Morgan and Mary McEvoy, was born in Glasgow Scotland in 1848, although the family was from County Down and must have traveled to Scotland briefly to bring in the harvest as was often a custom, they lived their entire lives in Down as the parish priest from St. Michael the Archangel in Finnis claims to have known my ggrandfather all his life when he immigrated in 1870.
Hope we can make a connection,
Barb Boyle
