According to family papers, my ancestor John McEvoy (about whom we know little) married a daughter or sister (b. 1704, d. 1794) of Cairncross Nesbitt, of Aughamore, Roscommon. They emigrated to England, and I'm afraid I have no further information on my McEvoy's in Ireland, but it appears there's a good chance that John came from Roscommon.
For what it's worth, I have been Y-DNA tested, and am of haplogroup R1b1c; I would encourage male McEvoy's to take up the Y-DNA testing
