Shane, thanks for the information on your ancestors. Our Patrick McEvoy was born in 1805 in Mountmellick. He came to America around 1840 and settled in Lancaster County, PA. He married Julia Maher (b. 1813 in Ireland) in July 1835. They had no children. Patrick died 1 Feb 1870. Patrick became a well-known railroad contractor and was responsible for building the famous Horseshoe Curve section of the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Peter McEvoy (b.1 Jan 1825; d. 12 Mar 1877) was my husband's great grandfather. Family lore has it that Patrick brought Peter to America to work on the railroad. Patrick may have been either a cousin or an uncle to Peter. We have learned that Peter had at least one brother in America, Denis, living in Pittsburgh, PA. We know nothing about the family in Ireland.

There may be a connection to your family there somehow, but right now nothing is "jumping out" at me. I guess we'll just have to keep worrying at it.

Nancy
