Have now discovered the previous generation "hidden due to family name referred to as McAvoy" they are Daniel McAvoy/McEvoy (born 1920 in Ireland); Wife Margaret (born 1826 in Ireland); Son William (born 1848 in Rainhill, Lancashire); Son Thomas "my ancestor" (born 1850 in Rainhill, Lancashire); Catherine (born 1852 in Rainhill, Lancashire); Mary (born 1854 in Rainhill, Lancashire); James (born 1858 in Rainhill, Lancashire); Jane (born 1861 in Rainhill, Lancashire); Alice (born 1864 in Rainhill, Lancashire) and Ellen (born 1869 in Rainhill, Lancashire). In the 1871 census Thomas is shown as a border with a family of Douglas Campbell "a brick maker born in 1841 in Scotland; their address was Walkers Lane, West Sutton, Saint Helens, Lancashire. The family other than Thomas ceases to appear in the UK census after 1871 so some of them may have emigrated. Does anyone out there have any connections?
