Evelyn:
Thank you for your reply. You are quite correct that my father has a brother named Jim who is a piano tuner. In fact, Jim (1932)and his wife, Margaret, emigrated to San Diego, CA, in the 1950s and have owned a large music store for years. They have four daughters. My father's second oldest brother, William (Billy - 1928) and his wife, Nessa, also live in San Diego and have twin boys (identical). The eldest brother, Robert (Bob or Roy - 1924) lives in Bristol, UK.My father, Norm (1934), and his wife, Peg, live in Victoria, BC, Canada. My father emigrated to BC in 1956 and married a Canadian girl in 1959.I am his eldest daughter (of two) and I live in Vancouver, BC.I was born in 1963.
It is interesting to find out about your grandfather's musical abilities. Our side of the family is very musical.Jim and Billy both play a number of instruments (the twins too) and my dad has a wonderful bass voice.I am musical as well and love to sing and play piano/organ.
You mentioned that you are planning a visit to Canada and dad wanted to know if you had any plans to visit the West Coast. We are obviously very intrigued about our family.Dad said that he knew many people in Ireland, but everyone was "family" and you often did not know the exact relationship of one person to another. He knew the Aikens, but was never told why they were family.Do you live in the US and if so, what part?
Dad has a few pictures from the "old country", including a photo of his grandfather and grandmother, Robert Wright and Martha McEvoy. If Robert was your grandfather's twin, they may look similar (if identical twins). He has scanned a few of them and has e-mailed them to me.If you would like to see them, e-mail me at [email protected] and I will send them your way.
Do you have the contact information for Kristen McEvoy? If she is from our side of the family, it would be nice to connect with her as well.Dad has told me that one of his father's brothers, Robert, headed to Springfield Mass. with a bunch of McEvoy's back in the 30s or so.There was quite a group of them there.I wonder if your uncle Robert linked up with them?
Take care and speak with you soon.Tracy
