Since posting my message in January of this year, I've found a little more information on Peter McEvoy. After seeing his tombstone in person, I believe he was born in 1825 in Mountmellick, Queens Co., Ireland. His wife's name was Julia Ann Dunn (her nickname was Judith). I still have not been able to learn anything about Peter's parents or siblings in Ireland. Peter was brought to the US by Patrick McEvoy (b. 1805, Mountmellick, Queens Co., Ireland;d. Feb. 1870 in Lancaster, PA)who was either a cousin or uncle. Patrick McEvoy was a well-known railroad contractor in Pennsylvania. We know he is definitely related to Peter as he left a sum of money in his will to "my relative Peter McEvoy." Patrick McEvoy also left money to his other relatives -- Denis McEvoy of Pittsburgh, also to Denis' son Terrence; to Mrs. Jane Flanagan and her daughter, Ellen; and to Mrs. John Woods of Ireland and her daughter, Kate. Perhaps if I could find more information on Patrick McEvoy and his other relatives, I might be able to follow that trail to more information on Peter. Do these names sound familiar to anyone?
