McEntire/Proctor 1850 North Carolina

I am actually researching the Proctor family in NC. However, I visited the library in Shelby, NC today , and noticed that there is a Polly McEntire, age 14, listed in the 1850 census in Mark and Sally Proctor's household.

I spoke with an elderly cousin, and he believes that the last three people named after Polly in this household were also McEntires.

These people, Martha, Rufus, and Sarah (Caroline) are listed in the 1870, 1880, and 1900 McDowell census as Proctors.

Does anyone have any information on the McEntire/Proctor connection?

Thank you in advance.
