You mention that your g-GF Bernard McEntee was born in Ireland. Were the others also? Did your gg-GF John and his sons all emigrate to the US? And, do you have any information on where they were from in Ireland and when they left?

I don't have hard info on where my McEntees originated. My only guess, based on family tradition, is County Cavan. This theory is based on the strong family tradition that we are related somehow to General Philip Sheridan, whose family definitely came from Cavan. My ggg-GM was a Rose Sheridan. I know McEntees were prevalent in Cavan also.

My McEntee line include an Edward (gg-GF)and another Patrick (ggg-GF).

My grandfather's sister was a Mary Elizabeth Dunne. ("Mary Elizabeth" was the name given to the first-born girl of the past 3 generations. But I know the name is incredibly common.) She never married. My mother didn't know why for sure, but she remembers a story that her aunt was in love with a cousin of hers, a Philip McEntee who lived in Massachusetts. (They all lived in Boston by then.) I'll have to check with her on that story.
