Hi Everyone,

Just today I was doing research on the painter W.H. McEntee and found a post dated back in 2000 from Jeanne Martin asking about this painter. I provided in that post what I know so far, as I have some art by him as well.

Here is basically what she asked, and my answer.

If ANYONE has any further updated info on this WONDERFUL American Artist, PLEASE let me know.

Here is her question and my reply:

I am trying to find out about a painting that my mother has had since 1975. It is signed by W. H. McEntee 1892. It is of a lady holding an orange. If anyone has any info about this artist please let me know!

MY REPLY:

Hi Jeanne and All,

I can tell you what I do know about W.H. McEntee, which is not much, and I'm looking for more info on this Artist too.

Some time ago I purchased a very old framed picture of what I call "Two Sisters", as I don't know the real title.
I got it from an estate sale of my GG Grandmothers best friend. As long as I can remember she had it hung in her Victorian style home.

Anyway, what I DO know about W.H. McEntee is that he did at least TWO if not more original oil paintings for a company called "THE N.K. Fairbank Company", they, I guess were the company that made "Fairy Soap"

You would send in 5 Fairy Soap wrappers, and get what they called at the time ... well, here is what the back of the picture I have says. The front upper right hand corner has the signature of W.H. McEntee, under that it says 99, not sure what that means, but this is from the late 1800's I'm pretty sure.
Below is what it says on the back, and on the back there are small pics that you can choose from if you send in 5 Fairy Soap wrappers. hehe

I hope this has been of some help. If anyone else has any info on this Artist, please let me know.

I'm getting ready to put this framed picture for AUCTION on ebay. Just need to try and get a little more info on this WONDERFUL Artist, I can send you a pic I took of the "Two Sisters", camera is not very good with lighting and getting the exact colors of this beautiful painting.

Also can send a little pic of the other painting, it's just like a blue copy of the the original to give those who are sending in their 5 wrappers and Idea of what the pic is like.

I would love it if you (or anyone) could send me a pic of any of the Art they have done by W.H. McEntee.

Thanks a bunch,
Lynn
