My grandmother was born in NYC, we believe. Her father, some have said, was a professor at NYU. Not sure about this. I know she was orphaned at a young age and had at least 1 brother. I think his name was Charles but it may have been Arthur. Her parents died within a few months of each other. The family always said her mother grieved herself to death after the death of her husband. When my grandmother married James Rooney, they lived in Yonkers,NY where several of their children were born. My grandfather was a NYC policeman. They later moved to Valhalla, NY. MY grandmother was taken in by a relative after her parents deaths. I believe she and any siblings were separated. Her nickname may have been Maggie, although she hated it.
