According to "McElyeas in Transit" by Clara Hunt Miller, Samuel McElyea wa born to Patrick Henry and Hannah McElyea between the years of 1775-94. In the 1820 census of Montgomery Co., TN. he is shown as Samuel McYea age 26-45, he is shown to be son of Patrick H. Sr. because 2 other sons of P.H. are living in Montgomery Co., further research may prove this to be in error. He is not found in later census. Later on in the book Samuel is shown as married and having children.
Hope this helps.
