Ludovic/Loclan/Laughlin came to America before 1750, arrived in the Port of Philadelphia, settled near the Susquehanna river area that later became York co. in 1749. Moved family to N. Carolina, arriving 16 May 1771. Taxed in St Lawrence dist. of Caswell co.; July 1779 Laughlin "McAlley" recd. a land grant of 300 acres and in Oct 1779 he recd another 100 acres in Caswell Co.; 1785 Laughlin sold land in Caswell Co.; 1787 he bought land in Surry Co. NC 1793 he sold land in Surry Co. So far no other record has been found of him on this continent

I have this for Mary Powers, she was b. Dublin, Ireland. Daughter of William and Mrs. Phyllis (Dennison) Wright. Phyllis Dennison mar. 1st Charles Wright...after he died she married William Powers. This information was found in a letter by Dr. John Lycurgus Spence son of David and Mary McElyea Spence.
