McElwee line in SC

Some of us have been trying to trace the McElwee line from Frederick, VA and seem to get stumped when we hit William McElwee (1791-1840). I found a few family trees which indicate that William's father is James, son of John Calvin, son of William who married Janet Black. Does anyone know if there is validity to this? Also, has anyone read the book of William McElwee II from Bullock's Creek, York, SC? I wondered if this book shed any light.

I have read that William II and David immigrated together in 1750.

Still hoping we find the link...

Lara McElwee Wilson
