Roy,
Thanks for the reply. As you probably read in my post a few months back, my Grandpa was a Roy McElwee. He was born in or around Mt Holly Springs,Pa 1884,died 1968. He always claimed he had two uncles that fought for the north, and two that fought for the south. My father came across a black man named Tom McElwee near Richmond,Va. He said he got the name from his greatgrandfather, who was given it by a landowner from Va.So we are a pretty diverse bunch to say the least. My grandfather said his father was working in London (Laborer) and saved the boat fare to come to America. He got from New York to Harrisburg,Pa in late 1860's, wound up in Mt Holly Springs and married a Mary Keenan. Thats as far as my part of the tree goes. But I haven't dug to hard. My whole family is deceased except my two sons and one daughter. William, Mike, & Kelly. I'm a retired Ironworker out of Local#420. Got a Motorhome and me and the wife travel. Gotta love it.
Thanks again, Bill (Mac) McElwee
