I'm still very interested in connecting everyone with the surname McElveen. I think the immigrant McElveen ancestor came from Scotland through the port of Chaleston in the early 1700s and settled on land up the river in the Kingstree, South Carolina area.My branch of the family later settled in Sumter and Florence Counties. After the War Between the States, my great grandfather moved to Live Oak, Suwannee County, Florida where he had cousins in the Byrd family already living there. Some of my family migrated to the Cedar Key and Tampa areas while my immediate family settled in Hastings and St. Augustine areas of Florida. My grandparents often visited cousins who remained in Clinton, Olanta, Leesville, and Shiloh, South Carolina. Unfortunately, when my grandfather died in 1962, the family lost touch with our South Carolina cousins.I would love to share information with you to help discover a connection.
I don't have a Roy McElveen in my files.Do you know the name of his father or grandfather or other members of his family?Perhaps someone on this forum could help you.
