I'm sorry for your loss. Isn't it wonderful that your grandparents have not been forgotten and that people have fond memories of them?

Thank you for your message. I posted my message 3 years ago and was beginning to think that McElveen researchers were not interested in the Shiloh Cemetery.

When you were there, did you happen to notice whether my great great grandparents' monument had been uprighted? It's the largest monument in the cemetery and is over near the new building. I talked to a member of the staff the day that I visited but never followed up on whether it was fixed or not. I do need to write to the staff about who is buried there.

I don't have any data on a Henry Pitts McElveen. Please list his parentage and his relationship to my great great grandfather, John Kennedy McElveen, Sr., if you know it. I'm trying to get all the McElveens straight in my files, especially those who are buried in Shiloh. When did your grandfather die? I took pictures in May 2004 of every McElveen stone that I could find. His may be one that I couldn't identify.

My great grandfather, Daniel Feninel McElveen, moved to Florida in 1870 and lost touch with most of the family after his mother died in 1900. I'm trying to reconstruct the family ties with very little information. I live in Jacksonville, FL.

My line goes like this:
John Kennedy McElveen, Sr. (1822-1890) m. Sarah Elizabeth Byrd (1830-1900) - both buried in Shiloh Cem.
Daniel Feninel McElveen (1850-1927) m. Araminta B. Allison (1857-1940) - both buried in Antioch Cem., Live Oak, FL
Daniel Willard McElveen (1885-1962) m. Margaret Frances Mobley (1887-1989) - both buried in Evergreen Cem., St. Augustine, FL
Frances Willard McElveen (1913-2005) m. William Walter Parish II (1914-1996 - She's buried in Evergreen Cem., St. Augustine, FL and he's buried in the Florida Nat'l Cem., Bushnell, FL
Nancy Willard Parish (me) m. Alvin Monroe Towns, Jr. (living)
