I don't have a Nancy McElveen who married a Johnson in my files, but my information is far from complete.I only have two children listed for John McElveen (1755-1815) and Elizabeth Fullwood McElveen (1760-1851): John McKnight McElveen (1784-1847) and William McElveen (1787-1854). Surely, they had more children, but I just don't have the information.I also don't know where any of the above were buried except William who was buried in the McElveen Cemetery in Williamsburg Co., SC.
I am descended from John McKnight McElveen who married Elizabeth Kennedy.Their son, John Kennedy McElveen, was buried in Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery. Since Shiloh is in the Pudding Swamp area, it's possible that the elder McElveens are buried in unmarked graves in that cemetery. They also may have been buried on their land which must have been nearby.
Another clue might be found in the 1850 Federal Census.I found an Elizth (Elizabeth) McElveen, age 90, living in Sumter, Sumter Co., SC. This was probably Elizabeth Fullwood McElveen because she died in 1851. She was living next door to a William McElveen, age 63, who was probably her son William (1787-1854). Why then was William buried in Williamsburg Co. rather than Sumter Co. unless he moved to Williamsburg after the 1850 Census? Was Elizabeth buried in a cemetery in Sumter or out in the country?
If you find any of the answers to the McElveen family, please let me know. For some reason, this family is hard to find.
