Hi again Kim,

The McElveens most probably did originate in Scotland, perhaps moving to Ulster around the time of the "Ulster Plantations" (I won't hazard a guess at dates since someone out there will probably correct me) when Scots presbyterians were forceably encouraged to emigrate to Ulster, which I suppose is where Irish presbyterians originated from.
