I connect to this line. Still looking for two siblings (a brother and a sister) of William, Zachariah Arnold, Davis, and Winnefred McElroy. I know they exist (because of chicken scratches on census records), but still haven't found them. The brother is about the same age as William on the 1820 Oglethorpe Co., GA census. The sister is on the 1830 and 1840 census being born about 1825. She is not on the 1850 census. Could she have married by this point?
I was able to link Winnefred because Mary Arnold list's her daughter Mary Phillips Syler in her will. I was able to link the whole family because Zachariah Arnold McElroy was listed two houses from William on the 1840 census, and then there was a William Jr. and William Sr. on the 1830 Franklin Co., Tennessee census. Also, the 1800 Oglethorpe Co., GA census is the only Georgia census to survive the burning of the British during the war of 1812. It has a single William two households away from his future father in law Zachariah Arnold.
I would like to know what you have to link Henry Newton McElroy to William Henry McElroy and Malvina Murrah? Rumor has it William Henry McElroy died after the civil war in 1867 when he was bucked from a horse (or something to that effect). Relatively young at age 34, leaving a young family. His father had died only 5 years earlier.,
