Hi Dick

I do not have my tree on computer, have folders with many papers in them, not always kept in order.

The info I was asking about in my previous message was on the rootsweb message board under mcelhose. it was posted by Tom Knapp Nov 13, 1999.

I found a tree on rootsweb a few years ago by Mr Knapp and attempted to contact him about some incorrect information and give him some that he did not have posted but his address was no longer in use.

I believe your John and the one I was asking about are two different people. I do not find a John married to Jane Van Horn in my line. I have names in my tree with question marks by their names.

Here is what I know for sure:

My gr gr grandfater was Archibald Stewart McElhose. He married Matilda Jane Wallace. Their son Samuel James McElhose and his first wife Linnie Louisa Travis were my great grandparents. Their daughter Mary Jeanette McElhose mrd to Robert David Cunningham were my grandparents

According to Archibald's death cert his parents were John McElhose and Sarah Ballentine. However I have a copy of their marriage record which shows them married Feb 4, 1842. And I have a family group record where I show Archibald being born Aug 18, 1835 ( I didn't list the source of info) With his mother's name Susan Valentine. I think I need to reorganize my papers.

I have John's parents as ?Samuel N McElhose and ?Martha McClusky.

Samuel's parents ?Thomas and ?Nancy S.

I have no idea where I got these names with ? and nothing before them. But I wonder if Thomas and Nancy S are your Thomas Isaiah McElhose and Nancy Scott.

I found a posting on the Rootsweb msg board dated July 14,2000 titled McElhoes mix-ups by a Dick Mcelhoes (Canadian branch). Is that you?

Thanks for responding to my message.
