David, I am also related to William and Elizabeth, and have been researching the McElhinney family here in Australia for a number of years. My line passes through John and Mary but I have not been able to identify 12 children, only a total of 5 of which the oldest I have found is my grandmother, Catherine Elsie May McElhinney who was born in 1885. There seems to be an overlap with a second family where the parents are John and another Mary but she is Mary Allcroft. I have not been able to find a link to this family even though both families lived in the same area/towns. I would be very interested in comparing the results of our investigations.
