AUSTRALIA 1854 :- I believe I have some information regards William McELHINNEY and E.Sharpe which I have only this year researched and verified. eg.1851 Scotland Census and other documents.Some of your information is correct and I will set out briefly some of my research.
William McE and Eliz.Sharpe married near Glasgow in 1853 then migrated to Australia arriving in 1854. They had 7 children with John McE being the 3rd eldest. John married Mary Williams in 1883 - they had 12 children with Dorothy being born in 1899 (I think your G.Grandmother). I have much info and my Great Grandfather (Robert)is brother to William mentioned above.Robert arrived in Australia in 1856. I will be most interested to hear from you so we may compare notes and the birthplace of William and Robert McElhinney in Ireland.
