Damian -

I live in Chicago and was born and raised in Michigan. My parents still live in Michigan, and we are descendents of Patrick & Jane (McDonald) McElgunn of Saginaw - and we think he is from Gubb, Fermanagh (S. of Enniskillen and Lisnaskea). (She, Jane, is from Glengarry Ontario). Patrick is my great great grandfather, moving to Saginaw MI in 1858 (?) w/ his parents and possibly brothers/sisters?

I believe Patrick is from one of two lines you speak of - his father was Hugh McElgunn and mother was Mary Atwell both of Fermanagh of 1810's (?)

I count some 20 + direct cousins aunts/uncles in Wisconsin and Michigan, and dozens more of indirect across the US (MN, CA, TX, FL). Recently had a second cousin become a new mother and who gave her son the middle name of McElgunn! The name is rare but our connections are strong. Have been to Fermanagh (Enniskillen & Lisnaskea myself some 10 years ago out of college).

Please contact me at I look forward to sharing more info!
