Leith,

It gets pretty sketchy before Daniel E. MCDUFFIE, Jr. According to my records, his parents were Daniel MCDUFFIE, Sr., born abt. 1750 in Bladen County, N.C. and died 09/14/1828 in Bladen County, N.C. (I have a copy of his will). His wife was Mary Margaret KERR, possibly born abt. 1760 in Arran, Scotland and died abt. 1834 in N. C. She is supposedly buried in Black River, New Hanover County, N.C. They were married abt. 1783 in N.C. Their children were: Elizabeth, born abt. 1775; James, born abt. 1783, Catherine, born 1785; Worthely, born 1790; John (my line), born 1792, Daniel E., Jr., born 11/04/1795, Jane, born bef. 08/30/1797, and Robert F., born 10/05/1802.

Chuck
