Yes, I have been in contact with Dr. Jim Hannum in the past and he has been gracious in sharing what info he has.

It seems that our brickwall is with
William McAfee (or McDuffee) Sr. b. 1777
who m. Margaret "Martha" Taggart b. 1780 in
Co. Antrim in 1802.
It would seem that William Sr. must be from
these same McAfee/McDuffee families of Ballymagarry and West Park in Co. Antrim and
probably across the line in Co. Derry in
the Carnglass/Lisnisk/Ballyrashane area.
The source of much of the info that Dr. Hannum and I have is a book written by
Ralph A. Benton titled "the McAfee Family
1782-1982. Dr. Hannum has visited Northern
Ireland in the area where our ancestors came
Dunluce Parish, Co. Antrim. The oldest
ancestor listed in the above book is our
William McAfee (or McDuffee) Sr.
Jean Macaulay is another McAfee descendant
who has done some research on her McAfee line
of West Park, Dunluce Parish, Co. Antrim.
She has also been gracious in sharing what info she has.
She lives in the area {lives about one mile from Ballybogey}

Jean descends from James McAfee b. abt. 1770
through his son, {James McAfee b. 1801 who
married Margaret McCurdy and who also married
Catherine A. Todd}.
There is also a Margaret Carey who has researched some of the same family as Jean
Macaulay.

I descend from William McAfee (or McDuffee) Sr. b. 1777 and Margaret "Martha" Taggart's
son, Mathew McAfee b. 1823 Co. Antrim who
later married Margaret McElhinney in Wayne Co, Ohio, USA in 1849. I descend through
Mathew's son, Mathew Porter McAfee b. 1858,
who married Eliza Belle Garner in Marion Co,
Missouri, USA in 1884. Then through Mathew Porter's son, Charles Thomas Mahlon McAfee
b. 1899 in Marion Co, Missouri.
Is Giles Carter working on the same McAfee
/ McDuffee families in Co. Antrim / Co. Derry, Northern Ireland?
