David, My McAfee/McDuffee(s) were in the West Park Ballymagarry area, Dunluce Parish, Co. Antrim area near the boarder with Co. Derry. In my ggg grandfather's case, William McAfee Sr. b. abt. 1777 who married Margaret Martha Taggart in 1802 (another source says she was Martha Ray<<surname), William Sr. and at least two of his sons are referred to as last name "McDuffee" with "McAffee" in parenthesis. You may be familiar with the following: The first actual recorded history is that of a "Call" to Dunluce Presbyterian Church of Mr John Cameron preacher of the gospel on 24 April 1755. Among the names listed who voted for this minister appear Daniel McDuffe, Daniel McDuffe, James McDuffe, Matthew McDuffe, James McDuffe and William McDuffe. I have not been able to make the connection/relationship from my William McAfee/McDuffe b. 1777 to the above McDuffees listed in John Cameron's "A Call to Dunluce Presbyterian" by Mullins. James, Mathew, William, Samuel & Robert are names repeated in my McAfee family. Samuel was the oldest son b. 12/24/1804. I would love to know who William McAfee Sr.'s parents/family are in that area of Co. Antrim boardering Co. Derry. My website is at: http://www.my-ged.com/jmcafee click on "surnames" or "search" I would be very interested in knowing what you and/or Giles Carter have found out about these McAfee/McDuffees. My line: Dunluce Pr., Co. Antrim, Ireland to Wayne Co, Ohio, USA in 1838.
