Bourbon County McDowells - Josiah / Joshua / Jane 1790
I have a conundrum and I cannot get a parental connection for my ancestor Joshua McDowell (b. ~1775?)
Joshua is recorded marrying Jane Curry in September of 1793, per the handwritten ledger.Transcriptions put the marriage in 1795.Jane is documented by Census records to have been born around 1773.
Josiah McDowell, who is all over the Ancestry family trees, is also said to have married Jane Curry.Josiah's will does not mention a second wife, but his first is evidently deceased at the time of writing.Jane lived until at least 1850 and shows up in the household of William McDowell, presumably a son of hers, in Orange, Fayette, Indiana.
Since none of the the trees mention a Joshua descended from Josiah, but there are no claims of him I am suspecting he is just not someone whose descendents were into genealogy. However, his Bourbon County marriage in 1793 places him there and the rest is assumed based on his location. He did not show up in the 1840 census and there is no death record I can find though he was last seen in Fayette County, IN.
He would have been respectably old in 1830 - nearly 60 if he married early. If he married at an older age, well who knows.
Fleeting references to Joshuas in Kentucky include a fine for swearing levied in 1810 in a different county. There's no guarantee it's my guy.
Getting back to Jane Curry, she is credited for a lot of children she could not have had.Unless there's an older Jane Curry who married Josiah. Some trees claim she was born in 1750something when connecting her to Josiah.I have looked for Curry families and found no firm links though there are a few Currys running around Bourbon around the same time.
Josiah's will indicates he's to be buried on his own lane, and he seems to have owned a lot of it.Grave finder sites have not been helpful.
Jane is listed as being born in VA, so even if she were born in what is now kentucky, that would be true.
Does anyone have any information or suggestions on how to track down Joshua's parents?
My tree, which is quite cluttered on ancestry, is "mkmcdowell" and is quite cluttered as I am sure there is a lot of erroneous stuff pulled in from other trees.

Any guidance or assistance is appreciated.I am pretty new to this so I have no confidence "I'm doin' it right."
