I am searching for information regarding Samuel McDowell born aprox 1803, Scotland - married 1833 to Jane Rebecca Elam in Mechlenberg, Virginia, and died in 1853 near Shelbyville, Tenn.
I have run into a brick wall as far as discovering where and when he came from Scotland. One census lists his his birthplace as Scotland.
