I am trying to find information on the ancestors of these two women. I believe that they were sisters. My Jean McDowall was married to James Laverie b 1786. I have been informed that a Mary or May was christened on 18 Feb.1803 recored in Wigtown, Wigtownshire, Scotland Father John McDowall Mother Mary Vernon. According to her death certificate Jean McDowall (Jane Dowall on the tombstone) died on March 8, 1865 at the age of 68. Father John McDowall farm laborer and mother Mary Vernon. She died at Wigtown and was buried at St. Ninians Church there. She is buried with her husband and several of her children, grandchildren, and daughter in laws.
