The Irish McDow's

I am looking for information on the McDow's that came from Ireland, not Scotland. My GGGG Grandfather was William Pinkney McDow (b. 1811 in Ireland) who was married to Margaret Jaudon. They lived in Pickens, SC, not Lancaster like the Scottish McDow's. I believe he had a sister named Ruth McDow who married Samuel B. Jaudon (Samuel B. Jaudon later married Elizabeth Sanders). I have not been able to find out who William Pinkney McDow's parents were, how they came to America or what part of Irelend they were from. William Pinkney McDow died very young and had two children, William H. McDow and Elizabeth McDow. Other McDow's that lived near by at the time were Sydney and Margaret McDow and they had several children. I am not sure if Sydney is a relative of William Pinkney McDow's. Also, Ruth McDow and Samuel Jaudon had a son that they named Pinkney, so I was wondering why the McDow's had an attachment to the name Pinkney.
