D. McDougald (born Scotland) married Susie Van Riper on January 21, 1887 in Hempstead County, Arkansas. He was 33 years old and she was 15 years old. Both were from Washington, Arkansas. I believe D. McDougald must have died before 1900 because Susie and her son, James, are shown in the 1900 census as living with her mother (Mary A. Van Riper) in Hempstead County, Arkansas. Susie must have died before 1910 because James (Johnnie) is listed without his mother and living with his grandparents, John and Mary Van Riper, at that time. Sam Van Riper was appointed guardian of James McDougald and sold some land on his behalf in 1914 (also Hempstead County).
