Hi Deborah - If I was interested in getting a copy of a birth, marriage, or death record I would first go to my local LDS Family History Center and find the person in an index. That would give me the information (name, registration district, volume number and page number) I needed to find the actual record.Hopefully the record I wanted would also be filmed by the LDS and I could get it by ordering the right film and copying it at the Family History Center.Film numbers can be found ahead of time by going to www.familysearch.org and searching their Library Catalog. If you don't have access to a Family History Center, you can also write to Ireland for the record.I have never actually done that so I'm not sure how fast or easy the process is.For the Republic of Ireland the office you want to contact is the General Register Office. They have a good website that can give you addresses, fees and forms that you would need. The website address is:

If you want information from Northern Ireland, I believe the office you want is Public Records Office Northern Ireland (PRONI). I've never dealt with them, but their website is:

Good Luck
