Hi,
I am looking for information about my mother's great grandparents, John McDonnell b.21 Aug 1836 Co Mayo Ireland, d.02 Apr 1893 Newport, RI and his wife Margaret (no maiden name yet) b. 17 Jun 1846, Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath, Ireland. d. 16 Apr 1901.
James arrived in New York in May 1858 and moved to Newport RI in 1862 according to his naturalization papers. I have lots of information about James and Margaret in the US but I have not been able to find them in any Irish records or anything that would give Margaret's maiden name. I tried a month of the world subscription to Ancestry.com but can't find a James McDonnell born in August 1836. I'm hoping to get to Newport, RI this summer to try to find their marriage certificate. Any suggestions for finding their parents would be greatly appreciated.
