My name is Janice MacDonell and I have been searching for my roots for a few years now on my own. Your posting has created some excitement when I read about your "King" MacDonell. My GGrandfather was, Duncan King MacDonell and from what I have been told by my only living aunt on my father's side, his sister, Patricia MacDonell (Toronto, ON) said that he probably got King as a nickname because he was a giant, tall man.. then I started thinking the possibilities the King name could be his mother's maiden name (not sure if this is true or not.. just a thought).
Anyways, my GGF, Duncan King MacDonell (B.1856 I believe) lived in the Ottawa, Canada region, when it was called Bytown back then, and is buried along with my GGM, Agnes Emma (DUNN) MacDonell at the Notre Dame Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario.
Today, I was doing a search for Duncan and came across a link of a marriage record through www.ancestry.com and found my GGM's name, Agnes Dunn (so it must be a match) and it lists his parents' names: Alex Macdonell & Anne E Annable Macdonell. I believe this is them.
So, this is what I have found so far:
(GGGF) Alex MacDonell & Anne E Annable MacDonell (GGGM)
(GGF) Duncan King MacDonell & Agnes Emma Dunn (GGM)
(GF) James Lyman MacDonell & Louise Landry (GM of Nice, France)
(F) Allan Anthony MacDonell (b. March 1942 d. March 2000)
I am hoping.. praying that we may have a connection. Would love to hear from you!
Janice E. MacDonell
