Hi Nancy -

With help from some of the folks in your forum, I learned I'm a descendant of John "le Borgen" McDonald and Mary Poitras.
My next question: Does information exist about the ancestry of the parents
of John?:

Angus Ban McDonald from Munial farm
Knoydart Scotland and his wife Elenor Macdonell (of Stoll)

Le Borgne means "One-eyed." Helen was born in about 1805 and married in 1831 to Andre Roquebrune. John Le Borgne was one of the first directors of Hudson Bay Company, when it first started. He started at Northwest Co. and moved to HBC. They had a much different way of settling corporate differences in those days. I plan to write about it a bit on my Larocque web page at http://web.syr.edu/~rcranger/roque.htm

Thanks again for your help. Any help with finding the ancestors of John le Borgne McDonald would be appreciated. (Notice his mother, Elinor's name is spelled Macdonell) - Bob
