Thomas McDonald-Lady Hawkins
Hello,
I am looking for information on a Thomas McDonald. I am not related to this line, but he was aboard the S.S. Lady Hawkins when it was sunk on January 19, 1942 by U-66. My great-grandfather was also on the vessel and perished in the attack.
According to the crew and passenger list that I have, Thomas was a Quartermaster from Canada, and he was 22 years old when he died aboard the Lady Hawkins. I believe he was the son of Michael and Anna Maud McDonald of Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, and the husband of Statia of North Sydney, Nova Scotia.
I am writing a book about the Lady Hawkins, and I would like to learn what I could about the crew and passengers who were onboard; both those that were lost, and the survivors.
I am having a difficult time locating any info about those who were aboard, so if anyone out there has any information about this person, any other passengers or crew members, or the ship itself that they would be willing to share with me for the purpose of my book, I would greatly appreciate it. In the book, I will of course, credit the people who submit any of their info to me.
Thank you.
